Dental Emergencies
Dental emergencies don’t run on a schedule.
No matter the dental emergency, it’s important to be seen right away. Call our office, and we’ll do everything we can to see you the same day—so you can get relief and start feeling better as quickly as possible.
Dental Trauma
Dental trauma can cause sudden problems that need immediate attention. If a permanent tooth is knocked out, Dr. Kramer recommends gently rinsing the root (if it’s still intact) and trying to place it back in the socket right away. The sooner this happens—ideally within 30 minutes—the greater the chance of saving the tooth and preventing further complications.
If replanting isn’t possible, keep the tooth moist by storing it in saliva (such as in your cheek) or in milk until you reach our office. Time is critical—please don’t wait more than two hours to be seen.
Dental trauma such as a broken or knocked-out tooth is always an emergency. If you’re experiencing this or have a severe toothache, call us right away and come to our Fort Collins office—we’ll do everything possible to see you the same day
Dental Abscess
A dental abscess is a painful bacterial infection at a tooth root or gum, causing swelling, fever, and pain. Prompt treatment is vital to prevent it from spreading. If you suspect an abscess, call our office immediately.
Broken Cusp
If you’ve broken a cusp on a molar, don’t worry—it’s usually not considered a true dental emergency unless you’re in severe pain. In these cases, we’ll schedule you for the next available appointment.
